2015 . . . Where did it go?

Yikes . . . when I looked at my blog page I was shocked to realize I have not posted anything in the last quarter of the year. So what happened since my last post?

Well, I left off with Mother's return to their apartment in September. Mom and Dad settled into a routine with a wonderful lady coming in everyday to assist Dad with cooking, cleaning, and doing whatever was needed for Mother. Dad brought Mom some beautiful flowers for their anniversary at the end of September.

I was thrilled to have my phone replaced with a iPhone 6. I missed taking pictures and cameras just don't have the same conveniences. It is inconvenient to carry them around just to start.

We had a memorial for Mrs. Simpson in September. She passes away rather suddenly from a rare health issue.

These are the beautiful flowers our church sent to Mom and Dad for their anniversary. We enjoyed them in church on the 23rd and they enjoyed them for many days thereafter.

We headed for Orange Beach for the Feast on the 24th of September, arriving on the 25th. On the way the traffic in Baton Rouge was tough. I did the traffic jam driving. Then I didn't have to listen to Tony's moaning and groaning.

Instead of staying at the State Park as we had in our last few visits we stayed at the RV Hideaway Campground in Magnolia Springs. It was a very quiet park with a nine-hole chipping course in front of it. Tony did not bring his golf clubs . . . go figure.

While serving at the Information Area I met a new friend, Stella. Her residence is in California but her daughter's family is in Houston. We became fast friends and enjoyed seeing each other daily for 'getting to know you chats' and observations about day to day occurrances.

Services were outstanding and the social opportunities included a Luau, dining at LuLu's and Lambert's, lunch with friends, and more.

Cloudy view at LuLu's but so peaceful!

We enjoyed two visits to Lambert's and came out STUFFED both times.

A gorgeous moon at the RV Park . . .

We returned to Lake Conroe (Thousand Trails) in early October. It was good to get back home . . . then Mom fractured a bone in her foot . . . yikes! She had to wear a boot for several months but it served the purpose and all is well now. This put some of her therapy on hold but it is resumed now.

Beautiful Lake Conroe . . .

In October Tony finally decided to give returning work a try and we moved to Angleton, he went to work for Sunbelt and then he bought me another Corvette, a very reliable one, 2001, blue with white convertible. Never had a convertible. A first . . . and as it has turned out a great one.

I am also reminded of something that happened back in June that I could not bear writing about in my last blog. Our dear Babe had been declining over the past few months and was having more and more problems getting around. Her hips were not working like they had before and we were very concerned about her quality of life. After an unfotunate accident Tony took her to the vet and she was mercifully euphemised. VERY sad day . . . June 12th.

We watched Jack carefully for any indication that he needed another playmate. He did very well but we were always watching out for a potential family member. We watched a litter of pups from the same breeder Jack came from, disappear to homes one by one. However, I also found out the daughter of a friend had a year and a half old Pomeranian femaie she was considering placing in a good home.

We all talked about it for several weeks and then Tony and I almost simultaneously decided we needed to try this little Princess out. Her name is Miss Pepper. She is jet black like Babe but her hair is silky like Babe's Mom . . . Brittany. She is more Jack's size and gives him a run for his money. She joined our family on December 24th and now you would think she had grown up in our family. What a sweetheart!

We had our traditional Thanksgiving in November at Mom and Dad's community room. My dear cousin, Jeannie, and her hubby were not able to come because of some health issues. We missed them so much. Dean and his sons Jason and James, and James' family were there along with friends, Rose Mary, Frank and Tony Duncan. We had a fabulous time being thankful.

My spatchcocked turkey . . . cooks so quickly!

We treasure Grandma Scott's china, silver, recipes and memories . . . thanks for the legacy!

In early December (the 6th to be exact) we participated in a golf tournament in Jersey Village with my church. We (Tony, Frank Pierce, and myself) took advantage of Tony's long drives and wound up with 9 under par for first place. We had great fun and good food afterwards.

Tony and I enjoyed our 37th anniversary at Gringos. How we love our Mexican food!

Tony made a trip to Alabama to take his brother hunting. He and his friend, Denny, left the Wednesday before New Years and had a chilly break with Jerry up on the Tennessee River. No deer were harmed in the process but they did have a great time.

On the way home Denny and Tony played in a tournament in Jackson, Mississippi where Tony got closest to the pin, winning this beautiful Bama golf bag.

I am finishing this final blog of 2015 at the end of January 2016 . . . again, where did the time go? It was an interesting year, full of variety, life lessons, fun, and occasional sadness. We look forward to 2016 with anticipation.
