A few sunset pics while we were at the Gulf State Park . . .

This week has been full of variety. We depart tomorrow and I look back on the week that has seen severe flooding back at home (Houston area) and death and destruction all the way up to Oklahoma.

Saturday I rejoined the Daphne church. Last time I had been there was on Atonement prior to the Feast in Orange Beach in October. Pentecost would be at the same place on Sunday with a potluck in between services. I agreed to bring a fruit salad. The traffic was actally worse Saturday than Sunday. The weather was supposed to include rain, however, it barely sprinkled on me when I left services Sunday afternoon.

It was wonderful getting to know the members in the congregation better. The potluck was delicious. We had a guest speaker for Pentecost and I was thrilled to hear the sermon he intended to give in the fall but was unable because of illness. In the morning he discussed intuitive and analytical minds and how they apply in our Christian growth.

Tammie and Jeff were here Friday, Saturday, and Sunday night. We were able to cook out Saturday night, having filets, grilled shrimp, baked potatoes, baked beans, salad, homemade banana pudding, Teresa and her daughter Abbey, along with her hubby and daughter joined us. We had a fantastic time.

Monday afternoon we were able to get everything back in place and ready for our last couple of days. Tony managed to do some shopping and found some 1200 count sheets for a great price.

Teresa took her daughter, son-in-law and granddaughter back to Birmingham and brought her sister back. We were glad to see Nancy and spent most of the day with them at the pool. It was overcase part of the day but we did not have rain. I did manage to get some laps in and a lot of sun. That COLD aloe vera gel felt so good after my shower.

Teresa, Susan, Nancy

Crazy horse for sure . . .

I managed to pick up a dozen Krispy Kream Donuts earlier in the week and managed to finish them off a few days later.

Jack has enjoyed the walks up and down Raccoon Road. We have seen bunnies, cardinals, red birds, seagulls, and many more kinds of wildlife . . . but no gators so far. A copperhead was spotted and photographed prior to our arrival and thankfully we have not seen it since.

The sunset this evening was absolutely stunning . . .

It is Thursday morning and we have started rolling down the road. I got most items taken care of early and when Tony got up he asked if I had taken care of the antennae to which I replied, No. He didn't remember you have to turn the antenna straight with the RV before lowering it. The handle and 'innards' popped off. Well, it was 'flat' against the top but cockeyed. So we had to 'attempt' to fix it . . . which intailed using a monkey wrench to lift the antennae back up vertical, then Tony getting on top of the RV, turning the antennae straight, then I used the monkey wrench to lower it in to the groove where it should have been in the first place . . . hmmm!

Tony finished the outside. The driver's side slide had issues coming in this morning.

Nancy came down to say goodbye and we were on our way. We are in Foley now and it is raining. I hope by the time we get back Texas will be a little drier.

We made it all the way to Beaumont and stayed at one of our favorite parks . . . Cracker Barrel. We parked in the very back of the lot. We had a great dinner and retired to the RV. I went in for breakfast in the morning and had enough left over to take Tony some breakfast.

We made our way to Lake Conroe, chose a new site, and got set up. I was thrilled to get set up a day early. We have trees around us but there are more open areas. The other site had thick trees and shrubs on one side.

After getting set up I made my way down to the pool and was able to get my laps in. It felt terrific getting some exercise and a good shower. We slept very soundly and were glad the rain was on the way out! We did not get much rain on the way home.

More adventures to come!
