Rain, thank you, not snow . . . (Y2D263-5)

It is March 1 and 1/6th of the year has passed. This has been the coldest January and February I can remember in a long time. At least we have not experienced snow here. It is mind-bending to think about living in all the snow the northeast has been blanketed in for months. To me, it would seem to make me a prisoner, limiting my existence to a very small place that was meant to be a comfort and a joy to live in. Perhaps I am thinking pessamistically . . . which I detest . . . I am sure those who are in those warm, cozy, homes are thankful they are not out in the cold, fending for shelter. We have much to be thankful for.
Coffee and oatmeal have become the standard. Babe paces around as soon as she gets up until I mix some hot oatmeal with her food and put it on her pad.
Tony and I are watching a segment on Yellowstone and its sole caretaker for the winter. It was beautiful seeing only the footprints of the wildlife in the pristine snow and the tracks of the caretaker's vehicle of choice, be it snowmobile, or van on tracks. At the end of this month they begin snowplowing the roads and getting ready for the annual migration of over 3 million people for another season.
A warm feeling grew in my chest as I watched the pictures of the beautiful sites we saw last June. The buffalo wear their full winter coat. When we were there they were shaggy, with clumps of winter coat turning loose from their summer duds.
When we arrived in June last summer, I was absolutely shocked to see so much snow still hanging around all through the park. I had no idea but realized the altitude and latitude had a lot to do with it. Plus the thick woods filter the warming sun out very effectively.
I remember Jack marching up to the pile of snow beside the row, sniffing it curiously, tentatively climbing on top while continuing to sniff each square inch, and feeling the cold on his paws. Perhaps he did not actually figure it out but it will be a while before he will encounter more.
This week looks like it will be warmer but very soggy. Of course the weather changes around here from moment to moment.

I got a pedicure Friday, much needed and the girl new I liked SHORT nails and did a good job . . . very short . . . it should last for a good while. Last one I had was in the fall with only nail color change in between.
Toes are not very pretty . . . but they sure are useful!
Tony an
d Jack have been snuggling this morning . . . here is a pic . . .
He loves it when we are in the bed. Now his favorite place during the day is between our pillows.
During the night he likes to curl up behind our knees or under the cover against our tummy or back.
Babe always curls up on the fuzzy blanket on the foot of the bed.
I see the sun shining but there are big puddles of water on the lawn.
Tomorrow I have another One to One session because my iPhoto app is not working right. I will also take Tony's phone and get them to look at it. The camera has disappeared and he is having issues with some apps.
